Saturday, October 18 and Saturday, October 25, respectively, ICIA, University of Bath.

TWO new dance companies which have been shortlisted for national awards are performing this month at the University of Bath on two seperate dates.

bgroup and Robin Dingemans visit the ICIA at the University of Bath in October on October 18 and 25 respectively.

Both companies have recently been shortlisted for the British dance prize, the Place Prize for Dance, in recognition of their exceptional talent and individuality.

Choreographer Ben Wright, of bgroup, and the eponymously named Robin Dingemans dance group have attracted much attention from London critics and audiences. Now audiences here have a chance to see their work.

bgroup’s triple bill of new dance pieces explores the mind, heart and human condition.

The pieces are breathtaking and poignant in equal measures, as life itself can be.

The evening includes a highly physical male quartet, where space is defined by light and action. A tender and truthful duet follows. Performed in silence the two dancers enter into an intricate physical dialogue, in which the pair flip between delicate touch and strong wrestling. The final piece features five dancers.

Robin Dingemans is known for his striking stage presence, carving out space with an almost audible crack.

Here he is working with Joanne Fong, and these accomplished dancers form a charismatic duo, bringing to the stage an explosive power and deft technical ability.

Robin Dingemans’ Me +You = 5 is a witty and original fusion of dance, physical theatre and video exploring how we live our lives. Both entertaining and touching, it expresses how we engage with both our real and imagined worlds. Dingemans has been based in the UK since 1997 and is well known in the UK. Tickets cost £9, and concess ions are £7 from the ICIA box office on 01225 386777 or see
