I MOVED to North Bradley eight years ago and have often commented on puddles and drains, such as the lack of drainage and maintenance work required to make or enable them to work.
The council would get a lot less letters from me if it actually tackled and addressed potential future problems. Trust me, I’ve heard all the excuses, such as costing people more in their council tax – but why should it? If council planning was better then the sums would add up. Sometimes the natural environment will require additional resources which appear to never get budgeted for.
Anyone can save money but to spend it wisely takes wisdom. Individuals make mistakes but councils should be a wealth of knowledge and experience.
If councils actually did real hard work instead of sitting on their butts, and started using their eyes and legs, perhaps the public would respect them. Council tax should be allowed to go down as well as up. There should be penalties for failing to do jobs that could potentially cause accidents.
