A FORTNIGHT ago you printed a letter of mine challenging the roadworks people to explain their policy over reinstating paving in town centres.
Did I really expect a response in Friday’s edition? It is possible that bureaucracy prevented anyone responding within a week. Perhaps a councillor could explain?
Take a walk along Silver Street in Trowbridge and there are a number of locations where high quality paving has been dug up and replaced by tarmac. One section actually has TEMP sprayed on it. That indicates good intentions, but when will it be properly reinstated? Could we have a present for Christmas?
There must be other towns where this happens. I can’t believe that Trowbridge is unique. Could we have a competition to find the worst problem? Readers could send in their photos. I would help judge them, if necessary.
Something needs to be done to encourage action. A lot of public money was spent installing this paving. The public deserves better.
