IT was no surprise to read of Mr Hiscocks’ concerns around road maintenance within our county town, especially as it was adjacent to an article in which Cllr Bridges and I highlighted numerous issues with the street scene around Trowbridge.
However, I do feel I need to clarify Mr Hiscocks’ concern around parking fees. These are not implemented by the town council as stated, but in fact by Conservative-controlled Wiltshire Council.
The town council has made it blatantly clear that we do not approve of the parking charges levied and believe they are not conducive to encouraging growth in our town. Unfortunately, whilst the town council works hard to maintain purposeful and expedient channels of communication with Wiltshire Council, we are restricted as to any purposeful action we can exert in this respect.
Understandably some members of the public will not be satisfied with this explanation as they simply wish to see an issue resolved. However, please be assured that if you raise an issue with a town councillor we will be more than happy to assist in bringing this to the attention of the relevant county councillor and council officer on your behalf. We are passionate about wanting the very best for our wonderful county town.
Cllr Andrew Bryant
Chairman of town development
Trowbridge Town Council
