UNFORTUNATELY both RA Naish and Councillor John Knight have missed the key point of my letter regarding the Bowyers estate – the emphasis on affordable housing.
Yes, there have been housing projects happening in Trowbridge, but much of it is solely retirement homes or out of price range for a lot of people.
One look at the numbers on social housing lists, in the windows of letting agents or a conversation with the CAB, will confirm that housing is still a major issue in the area. It would be a waste to not consider housing as part of the development in this new site.
I also hope that the planning process is completely transparent, with plenty of opportunities for existing residents to feedback their thoughts.
