Eric Charles Day died at The Old Parsonage, Broughton Gifford, where he had spent the last year after suffering from ill-health, on November 11, aged 91.

Mr Day joined the RAF when he was 17 and then joined the RAF Comman-dos in 1940 and served at Dunkirk.

He moved to Corsham in 1971 and was chauffeur to Sir Kenneth Selby at Hartham House, where the Bath and Portland Group had their offices. Mr Day retired aged 70 and worked as a guide at Corsham Court for 10 years.

He played golf at Chippenham Golf Course for many years and then played bowls at North Wiltshire and Corsham Bowls Club.

He leaves his wife Brenda and two sons, Paul, who lives in Westbury, and Mark, who lives in South Africa.
