At Bradford on Avon's annual pancake races today, businesses took part in the adult fancy dress race across Town Bridge.

And coming out on top was Barney Allin of Allin Engineering, who raced into first place.

Police stopped traffic as 15 runners sprinted across the bridge while tossing their pancakes, before racing back over to the finish line.

Mr Allin said: “I entered for the first time last year and won and now I’ve won again so bring on next year.

Children competed in several races for the first time in Lamb Yard, with a bucket of sweets tempting them at the finish line.

There were also buckets to collect money for the town’s Christmas lights.

Organiser Jackie Allan said:”The event gets bigger every year and it is great the children now have a safe place to race. It is a chance to put Bradford on the map while supporting local businesses.”
