A man injured in a Seend house fire has been taken to Royal United Hospital, Bath for treatment.

Brian Crisp, 65, suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation, in the incident which happened at 3.28pm this afternoon at Roberts Cottage, in High Street.

Four fire crews worked to put out the blaze which has substantially damaged a detached garage as well causing minor damage to parts of the house.

Mr Crisp and his wife Helen were already out of the property by the time the emergency services arrived and nobody was left in the building.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and he’s now at RUH for further checks while Mrs Crisp isn't thought to have suffered any injuries.

The A361, the main road through Seend, is currently partially closed while Police and fire crews investigate the scene.
