Armed police officers were called to Melksham last night, after a man was reported shooting at cats with a pistol.
Officers cordoned off a block of flats on Berryfield Lane shortly after 7.20am, and arrested the 32-year-old from Melksham on suspicion of possession of firearms, criminal damage and affray.
A silver handgun and an imitation weapon were recovered from the scene, which are believed to be BB guns.
The man was taken to Melksham Police Station, where he remains in custody.
