The public had a chance to pose questions to Angus Macpherson Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon as he held a meeting marking his first six months in the role yesterday evening.

Mr Macpherson, who was the first ever person to be elected to the position in November, last year, held the event in County Hall, Trowbridge, displaying the police’s 2012/13 performance figures, discussing objectives for the future and fielding questions on community issues.

“It has been a very hectic and enjoyable time as this is a challenging job where every day brings new challenges and new opportunities,” he said.

“Given this is the first time that we have held a meeting of this nature, I think it went well and was a great way engage with the community.”

Mr Macpherson, accompanied by fellow speaker Mike Veale, Wiltshire Police Deputy Chief Constable, presented his police and crime plan, identifying some of his key priorities which include reducing violent crime, reducing non-dwelling burglaries and improving the complaints procedure.
