A man seen riding a trials bike in a Melksham play park has been reported for a host of offences.

A large number of reports of nuisance riders in and around the town have been received in recent weeks.

Whilst out on her police bicycle PCSO Helen Wilson was patrolling an area near Methuen Avenue after hearing sounds of a trial bike. She then saw a rider leaving a play park and was able to follow for some distance.

A short time later officers in the area headed to an address in Sangster Avenue where the bike was believed to be.

As officers arrived a man, who was not believed to be the rider, ran from police, dropping a bag as he went. He was stopped a short time later and the bag recovered.

Following a search of the bag the 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and currently remains in custody at Melksham Police Station.

An address in Sangster Avenue was subsequently checked and the trials bike seen earlier by PCSO Helen Wilson was recovered. Another male was reported for dangerous riding, no insurance, no MOT and no licence.
