A Bradford on Avon funeral director who set out to complete 50 good deeds in 50 days has called on local residents to come forward with more tasks.

Paul McDonald, supported by his team at C.S. Bowyer funeral directors, launched the challenge in April this year to mark his 50th birthday.

To date, only a small number of local people and charities have come forward, but Mr McDonald is hoping that a second appeal will encourage more to ask for help.

He said: “People think it is just for charities but it is open to everyone. I am really keen to support as many people as possible in the local area.

“I have had nothing but praise from the people I’ve assisted so far, but it’s a shame more haven’t come forward to ask for help.

“It doesn’t have to be a charity. If someone knows an elderly neighbour in need of a lift to an appointment or help with their shopping, I’m here.”

The funeral director and his team have removed shrubs for Dorothy House Hospice to allow for a new apothecary garden and Mr McDonald has volunteered at the Mercy in Action charity shop in Bradford on Avon as well as taking on a number of smaller tasks in peoples’ homes.

He said: “The company often runs events, but this is my chance to personally contribute to the local community. I would be delighted to have more tasks to undertake.”
