Four Guides – Frances Bridgwater of Trowbridge, Evie Daines of Warminster and Fiona Winters and Sara Eckersley of Chippenham – went on an experience of a lifetime as they travelled across Europe for two weeks, visiting eight countries.
They were selected from 300 Guides and Senior Section members to join a group of 10 representing Girlguiding South West England. Each had to raise the £1,500 cost themselves.
After flying to Croatia, they went by train through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany and Holland, before catching the ferry home.
In Croatia, the girls had fun using Segways to explore Zagreb. In Hungary, they took on a challenge set to use as many different modes of transport as they could, so rode “noddy trains” and bicycle cars to travel around the massive parks.
The summer trip was packed with activities and experiences of local cultures, as they passed through each country.
Evie, 16. said: “Euroquest has been an amazing experience and has given me the opportunity to make new friends and memories.
“It has been life-changing and has really inspired me to travel.”
