Two students from Wiltshire were presented with awards from Prince William for their good work in the community.

Craig Pearce from Holt and Tom Thorpe from Semington, both 15, met the Duke of Cambridge in London on September 11.

They received the Prince’s Award for their work with the educational charity Skillforce.

They were part of a team who did the 24 Hours to Make a Difference challenge to regenerate Bradford on Avon Youth Centre.

Tom said: “We had to fix up a youth centre which was falling apart. The other group painted the inside as the Melksham group worked outside.

“I thought we would all win, but when I came back after the summer holidays an email came back saying I had won it.

“My friends were a little annoyed, but mostly proud, but I knew it was a group effort.”

As well as the prince, the pair met comics Rob Brydon and Jimmy Carr and singer Rod Stewart at the gala at the London Stock Exchange.

Tom said: “The Prince congratulated us and he asked how I was enjoying the programme.

“My mum was probably more proud than me. She was excited to say I had met the future king but I was more excited to have met Jimmy Carr.”

Craig said: “It was a great experience, and something I will remember for a long time.”

SkillForce is a charity which inspires young people by drawing on skills of ex-Forces personnel.
