Wiltshire people aiming to stop smoking are asked to join the Stoptober campaign in October.
The campaign, launched regionally at County Hall, Trowbridge, wants people to give up cigarettes for 28 days with a long-term aim of stopping for good.
Research shows that people could add an extra seven days to their lives, every 28 days, if they give up cigarettes.
Maggie Rae of Wiltshire Council said: “Evidence suggests people who stop smoking for four weeks are likely to halt for good.”
Those who sign up to Stoptober will receive a stop smoking pack and a mobile phone app.
