Strawsome fun was to be had by visitors to North Bradley’s annual scarecrow trail at the weekend.

A total of 47 scarecrows were scattered around the village – including characters from Peter Pan, Despicable Me and Pinocchio – for the animation themed event.

The Friends of North Bradley School raised £1,400 for North Bradley Primary School with the attraction, held on both Saturday and Sunday.

Friends group chairman Wendy Wood said: “It was an absolutely amazing event. It was very successful and we were really lucky with the weather.

“The funds offer a big benefit to the school and the money will help them and their pupils.”

Mrs Wood, 39, said she was really pleased by the community involvement in this year’s event, with village residents creating the scarecrows to put up in their gardens.

She said: “The event has been going for four years and I think there’s going to have to be a really big effort next year to top this.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the event and to all those who attended.”

Mrs Wood said the Friends of North Bradley School would now turn to planning their next fund-raising event, which will be a winter fair.

That is scheduled for November 30 at the school, in Church Lane.
