Frankie & Benny’s is filling one of the remaining restaurant units at Trowbridge’s new £17m St Stephen’s Leisure Park.

The 1950s New York inspired chain will be bringing more jobs to the town as well as its menu of burgers, steaks and pizzas when it opens in February 2014.

The site, developed by Legal & General, features the new Odeon cinema which opens today, a Nando’s, Prezzo, Premier Inn and three other restaurants.

Tim Russell, Legal & General Property’s senior asset manager, said: “We are pleased to welcome one of The Restaurant Group’s principal brands, which we feel complements Nando’s and Prezzo in offering a highly popular, family-focused dining option.”

Mr Russell said the remaining occupants should be announced towards the end of November, with operators visiting the leisure park last week to view the units.

Nando’s is expected to open in the first week of November, with the hotel opening on November 17 and Prezzo on December 12.

Mr Russell welcomed the opening of the new £3.7m Odeon which is Trowbridge’s first cinema for more than 30 years.

He said: “We had some scepticism at first which is understandable given the town had been let down a few times over the years.

“But as soon as we started on site, that just went away.

“This stage is the best part of my job – seeing something which has been planned for so long coming together. It is a great feeling as you know it is going to make a difference to people’s lives.”

Colin Kay, Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce president, has welcomed the Frankie & Benny’s announcement.

He said: “It is brilliant news and means we’ll have more jobs in the town. Frankie & Benny’s, Prezzo and Nando’s are good family restaurants and it is great they are coming to Trowbridge.”
