A glassmaker, who has set up a business in Wingfield, near Trowbridge, is showing off her talents in the new Kettle Chips television advert.

KT Yun, of Frome, is one of the talented craftspeople featured in the TV campaign, celebrating the care and attention taken to create the crisps.

Filming took place in early October, at a warehouse in London, and Mrs Yun took her mobile furnace to create the glasses that decorated the table, while other artists used their skills to create the table, tablecloth and ornaments.

The mother-of-two said: “I was contacted by them after they researched different artists and I agreed, as I wanted to experience something different. I found it easy to switch off; glass blowing is so absorbing. Working in a different space was a challenge, but I like a challenge.

“There were 12 of us and it was amazing to work with different talents. It was like being back at art school.”

Mrs Yun, 44, discovered glass blowing when she was 17 and studying at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham. She went on to do a degree in glass at the same location.

She said: “Glass making is not just something you can pick up and do, you have to train.”

The artist has taught glass making for 12 years and last year set up the Glass Hub in Wingfield, with her business partner, Helga Watkins-Baker.

They provide workshops, classes and party hire and teach a range of techniques for all ages and abilities. Mrs Yun uses her furnace to take part in night shows and demonstrations. The glass is melted at 1,200C and Mrs Yun works on the glass at 1,100C.

She said: “It is like it is alive when it is hot. The whole creative process is fascinating.”

People will be able to create their own Christ-mas ornaments at a workshop at the firm on December 14.
