Beggar arrested in Melksham

First published in News

One of the three beggars who have been soliciting money in Melksham town centre was arrested and cautioned last Friday.

The 19-year-old man was arrested on Bath Road, near Sainsbury’s, under the Vagrancy Act.

Sergeant James Williams, of Melksham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The people we have seen begging are not homeless and we would encourage people not to give them money, but to report them to us on 101.”
