Lower Westwood Post Office in Westwood village shop has expanded into a modern, open-plan, local-style branch with extended opening hours.

Post Office Local is a new concept for delivering services from an open plan counter alongside retail sales.

The Post Office was a small counter in the corner of the village shop but the refurbishment took place last week. Opening hours are now from 8am-8pm Monday to Sunday, the same hours as the shop.

Ray Parsons, 70, has been in the retailing business for 48 years and took over the Westwood shop four years ago.

He said: “I think the Post Office has done an excellent job. I felt the services that were offered were so restricted, it wasn’t reaching all of my customers. Now it is so much easier to pop in during the evening.”
