Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander, who visited Trowbridge Rugby Club for a Wessex Chambers luncheon today, wished the first team every success in their big match at Twickenham.
The players travel to the home of English rugby on May 4 to take on Staffordshire town Leek in the RFU Intermediate Cup Final.
Mr Alexander said: “I wish them every success as I am a big rugby fan and it’s great to hear they are doing so well.
“I send my best wishes to them at Twickenham and it’s obviously a big occasion for them and the area.”
The MP for Inverness was very impressed with the club’s new ground and clubhouse, which only opened in September.
He said: “The club has made a big investment into new facilities here and it’s the sort of investment we like to see.
“I have been very impressed by the new facilities from what I have seen of them and although I haven’t seen the playing surface I’m sure it’s good even on rainy days such as today.
“Clearly with the success Trowbridge are having on the field, as well as the investment that has gone into the new facilities, the club is going from strength to strength.”
