A 12-day dry spell followed by above-average rainfall made April significantly wetter than on average.
Steeple Ashton-based amateur weatherman Geoff Witts recorded no rain at all from April 8 to 19, but downpours at the end of the month made it wetter than the previous 64-year average.
The warmest temperature of 19.8 degrees was recorded on April 21, only three days after the thermometer dropped to 0.9 degrees.
