Trowbridge given grass cutting assurance

Wiltshire Times: Trowbridge board handed grass cutting assurance Trowbridge board handed grass cutting assurance

Balfour Beatty Living Places has assured Wiltshire Council officers that it will have grass cutting back on track in three weeks, Trowbridge Area Board heard last Thursday.

Trowbridge town and Wiltshire councillors Jeff Osborn and Graham Payne have taken dozens of calls and emails from angry residents in the town over the past few weeks complaining about long grass.

However, Cllr Payne, who chairs the area board, told the meeting that he had been assured grass cutting will be up together in a three-week period, starting from last Tuesday .

Bill Parks, head of local highways and streetscene, told the meeting: “Balfour Beatty has brought in a significant number of additional resources in Trowbridge and they will continue to work around the problem areas.”

Disgusting sloppy work....... ive cut arou d my sons grave myself today with scissors so it can be seen properly.... the very long grass which has been roughly done has been left there...looks like hay making time instead of a place to bury our loved one and go and visit and reflect..... 150 million pound contract?? For doing what?? Sitting on their arses and having a fag... certainly not doing a good job of our cemeteries. I shall be visiting my son for a long time yet god willing and the contractors are going to mighty fed up of me complaini g about shoddy work in our cemeteries unless they pull up their socks and sort out their vrey lazy workers who have no pride in their jobs. Its disgusting way to treat our dead..... the large areas of grass wherethere is no or few graves they do...but dont touch or go round the areas where tnere is loads.... at one time it would all be cut every day somewhere in the cemetery and strimmed around the edges.... not any more.... as and when and a evil may care attitude.... certainly not a neat job by any standards...... when i find out the name and email address of the person in charge of the parks n cemeteries, grass cutting iwill be contacting them too until somethi g is done....

It's got nothing to do with lazy workers , it's the fact that Balfour Beatty have nowhere near the right amount of staff to cut the grass to schedule. Don't blame the frontline staff blame the management for seriously chronic understaffing levels!
