Trowbridge snooker player Stephen Lee, 39, will appear in court today charged with fraud.
Lee, of Birch Gardens, Trowbridge, Wiltshire is due before magistrates in Swindon accused of fraud by false representation.
The allegation against Lee, who was once ranked at number five in the world, centres around the sale of a snooker cue.
He has been a professional for more than 20 years and the winner of five ranking titles.
Last week he was ordered to pay an additional £20,000 in costs to the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association following his unsuccessful appeal against his 12-year ban from the sport.
Lee was banned last September after being found guilty of seven charges of match-fixing dating back to 2008 and 2009.
