The Warminster & District RUH Fundraising Group raised more than £2,300 towards a new cancer centre during a pig racing night held at The Organ Inn at the beginning of September.

There were four races during the evening, which took place on September 6, with five cuddly toy pigs racing on a track built by event organiser Terry Hickmott.

The pigs were auctioned, with the most expensive fluffy pig going for £150, while everyone else placed their 50p bets on who they believed was going to be the winner of each race.

Mr Hickmott, who organised the event with his wife Anne, said: “The night was a complete success and we were overwhelmed by the number of supporters who showed up to have fun and support the charity.

“Thank you to everyone who made the night possible. We stayed up until 2am that evening, still buzzing from adrenaline.”

The Forever Friends Appeal charity is aiming to build a new and pioneering RUH Cancer Centre, where clinical excellence will be providing a nurturing environment that is patient centred.
