ALL eyes were on Trowbridge town crier Trevor Heeks as he opened the traditional annual market in twin town Leer, in northern Germany.
Thousands turned out for the Gallimarkt, an annual market that has run unbroken for 506 years.
Speaking in German, Mr Heeks told the crowd he brought good tidings from Trowbridge.
“It was an absolutely wonderful occasion,” he said.
Mr Heeks was with Trowbridge town twinners as they paid their annual visit to Leer this month in this, the 25th anniversary year of the link being forged.
Nick Blakemore, chairman of the Trowbridge-Leer Town Twinning Association, said: “The Leer people really put on an active display for us and it was a welcoming and interesting time.”
