Wiltshire College's higher education students gather for the annual celebratory graduation ceremony tomorrow.

Around 200 graduands will attend the event, at Salisbury City Hall and the surrounds of Salisbury Cathedral, to mark their achievements.

They have completed a variety of courses, including Fashion & Textiles, Photography, Engineering, Film Production and Cinematography, Art and Design, Business, Motorsport Engineering, Animal Science, Computing, Care and Social Work.

Wiltshire College has an established record as a provider of higher education in its own right and as a partner college to UK universities including the University of Bath, Bournemouth University, the Royal Agricultural University, Bath Spa University and the University of Greenwich.

Following gowning at City Hall, the ceremony starts at 11.30am, featuring a address by Amanda Burnside, acting principal of Wiltshire College, before a procession back to a reception at City Hall.

This year’s guest speaker is Professor Bernie Morley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching at the University of Bath and on the day, graduands will be introduced by John Adams, vice principal, Higher Education and Development at Wiltshire College, with Chair of Governors Helen Birchenough delivering a closing speech.

Also attending this year’s graduation will be eight Royal Navy students, accompanied by Commander Ross Albon, who have completed their Level 5 and diplomas in CMI Management at Wiltshire College Salisbury.

Mrs Burnside said: “The Wiltshire College graduation ceremony celebrates the success of all our Higher Education students. It is a memorable occasion for our graduates, their families and friends and all the staff who have contributed to their success.

“Behind every successful graduate are family, friends and staff who have provided inspiration, support and help along the way and this is an opportunity to thank them for their contribution too, and to the many employers who have generously given time off work, or paid tuition fees.”

“The achievements being celebrated are an important milestone – they will open doors to opportunities both now and in the future.”
