CHILDREN'S author Neil Griffiths has launched a new pirate book dedicated to the Wiltshire Scrapstore in Lacock.
He is also patron of the charity and gave youngsters a lesson in storytelling and pirate craft sessions on Saturday at the book launch. Prizes were also awarded for the best pirate hat and voices.
The Jolly Dodgers is the 36th picture book for Mr Griffiths and he has just returned from an international tour of China, Hong Kong, USA and Europe.
Mr Griffiths said the book is dedicated to “The wonderful staff and volunteers at Wiltshire Scrapstore, who just like pirates, are always hunting for hidden treasures.”
He added: “I am always amazed by the wonderful work and creativity that happens at Wiltshire Scrapstore.
"Everyone involved is truly inspirational and it is lovely to see the reaction of families and young children when they visit. Dedicating this book is my way of recognising the hard work they do.”
Jane Wheeler, Wiltshire Scrapstore direction, said: “We are thrilled that Neil recognised the hard work of our wonderful, dedicated staff and volunteers in such a unique way. It sums us up perfectly.”
