Next year pensions will go up by more than twice the rate of inflation - giving pensioners more security in retirement.
The triple lock ensures the state pension rises every year in line with wages, prices or by 2.5% - whichever is highest.
Since 2010, we've increased the state pension by £800 and are committed to keeping the triple lock beyond the next election.
One of Michelle Donelan's pledges to our community is a commitment to protect pensions for all local residents.
As reported in The Daily Mail, Nick Clegg is drawing up plans for a £7 billion raid on middle class pensions.
The Liberal Democrat leader has ordered a wide-ranging review that could result in the end of the 40p tax break on retirement savings enjoyed by higher rate taxpayers. Michelle will fight the Lib Dems to block these plans and stand up for local people. "If people have worked hard and paid into the system all their lives, I think it's right that they have the security of a protected state pension," said Michelle.
