Residents of Weavers Drive in Trowbridge reunited last Friday for a Christmas meal a year on from the fire that ripped through a bungalow at the sheltered housing complex.

The dinner was first organised last year by Roy Lovelock, the warden of the sheltered housing complex, after a fire destroyed his bungalow and the roof of June White’s bungalow next door.

Neighbours rallied round at the time and set up Weavers Raising for Roy’s Residents fund to raise money for when they returned to their homes, raising more than £2,500.

Longmeadow Tenants and Residents Association organised this year’s lunch for 30 residents at Longfield Community Centre, with apetito supplying all the food.

Longmeadow TARA chairman James McDonald said: “We held the event to show the Weavers Drive residents they still have our community support. We want to make it bigger next year.”
