TROWBRIDGE-based Priority IT is urging local businesses to donate their old computers to help raise much-needed money for a Wiltshire charity.

The firm, which provides specialist IT support to local businesses, is refurbishing second-hand computers for sale and giving the proceeds to its chosen charity Alzheimer’s Support.

As the scheme is proving so successful Priority IT now needs more equipment to refurbish in aid of the charity which provides homes and other crucial support to people living with dementia in Wiltshire.

Priority IT is looking for desktop and laptop computers to refurbish which are running Windows 7 and are about three years old.

Kieran Thomas, managing director of Priority IT, said: “Many of the second-hand computers that we have refurbished have now been sold, raising valuable funds for Alzheimer’s Support.

“So we are asking businesses to bring in their old equipment for us to look at rather than sending it off to landfill. If computers can be refurbished, we will remove all the data securely and reinstall the software before offering them to the public in return for a donation to the charity.”

Babs Harris, chief executive officer of Alzheimer’s Support, said: “This is such a fantastic idea and one where everyone benefits.

“We rely on fundraising to support our work with people living with dementia and their families in Wiltshire. The funds raised will help Alzheimer’s Support keep services running including award-winning day care, support at home and activity clubs in the community.”

Priority IT's team of experienced technicians work with businesses in a range of sectors, from engineering and property to financial services and recruitment.

The firm was set up in 2010 by Mr Thomas, who has worked in the industry since 1997 and is the firm’s managing director.

Businesses can drop off their old computers at Priority IT, 56 Stallard Street, Trowbridge, BA14 8HH during office hours. For more information visit www.priority-it.co.uk or call 01225 636000.
