A TROWBRIDGE councillor is hoping that more people will join in helping keep the town tidy by taking part in regular litter picks.
Coun John Knight was out and about on Sunday afternoon in Trowbridge, picking up rubbish along with Wiltshire Councillor Dennis Drewett, his wife, Lynn and sister, Janet Scane.
They picked up rubbish over several hours from Park Road, Market Street, Silver Street, along Church Street and Fore Street.
“On our route we were thanked by many people for our efforts and example and one kind retailer from the Bridal Store even gave us a donation towards refreshments, which we have decided to donate to a local charity,” said Coun Knight.
“There’s been quite a lot of criticism about the litter so what we thought we would do is set the example.
“We’d like to do it on a regular basis and we thought if we had some publicity we might attract a few more people.
“I’m a great believer in setting the example and hopefully we can recruit more volunteers for our next litter pick after Christmas.”
