A WOMAN was offered money to get into a stranger’s car as she was walking home in Trowbridge.

Police are investigating the incident in which the man followed the woman in his red Vauxhall Corsa along Bythesea Road at around 10.40pm on Monday, April 17.

The man, described as Indian or Turkish, then asked her several times if she wanted a lift home and when she declined, he offered her money to get into his car. The woman shouted at the man and ran home.

PC Gary Chambers said: “The woman describes this man as being very persistent which made her feel uncomfortable and alarmed.

“We would urge all residents when out and about to keep their personal safety in mind, and if you have any doubts or concerns about your safety, please call 999 in an emergency, or 101 to report an incident.”
