TODAY the people of Wiltshire will go to the polls for the third time in two years, this time for a general election that has been touted as the most important in a generation.

Voting stations are open from 7am-10pm and Wiltshire’s 365,358 eligible voters are being urged to have their say and vote.

The Wiltshire Times and the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald will be covering the constituencies of the Devizes area, the Chippenham area, the North Wiltshire area and South West Wiltshire.

In Devizes, Christopher Coleman (Lib Dem), Emma Dawnay (Green Party), Jim Gunter (Wessex Regionalist), Timothy Page (UKIP), Imtiyaz Shaikh (Labour Party) and Claire Perry (Conservatives) will duke it out.

In Chippenham Helen Belcher (Lib Dem), Michelle Donelan (Conservatives) and Andrew Newman (Labour Party) will lock horns and in South West Wiltshire Trevor Carbin (Lib Dem), Andrew Murrison (Conservatives), Liam Silcocks (Independent), Laura Pictor (Labour Party), and Christopher Walford (Green Party) will do battle.

Finally in North Wiltshire, Peter Baldry (Labour Party), Phil Chamberlain (Green Party), James Gray (Conservatives), Dr Brian Matthew (Lib Dem), Captain Paddy Singh (UKIP) and Dr Lisa Tweedie (Independent) will vye for the seat.

The results will be announced tomorrow morning.
