DETECTIVES have arrested three teenagers in connection with a series of assaults in Melksham over the weekend, which they believe are connected.
At 11.30pm on Saturday two men were assaulted by a group of youths outside Woolworths in High Street.
Later, at about 1am, a man was assaulted and a car windscreen was smashed in Britannia Close.
In a third incident, just an hour later, three men and a woman were set upon by a group of youths in Spa Road.
One of the men was knocked unconscious and received facial injuries but his injuries are not life threatening.
Detective Sergeant Ben Mant of Trowbridge CID said: "Our initial inquiries suggest that all three incidents may be connected.
"Two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy from the Melksham area have been arrested.
"However the police investigation continues and I would appeal for anymembers of the public who have not yet spoken to the police but who witnessed or have any information in connection with any of the incidents to contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 4087000."

Maybe the answer is a special group of, say, 20 officers who "hit" a town without warning on any evening and arrest anyone whose behavious is threatening the peace. Under the Public Order Act, even making a threatening gesture can be arrestable. Time it was.
They ruin the Carnival and they now assult innocent people who want a good night out after spending all week working and paying their taxes and NI. These layabouts would rather cause havoc than make use of their time helping the community or themselves. I think National Service is the way to go, and also a zero tolerance zone in the town centre whereby police can move on and arrest people if they are causing grief.
