ONE of the world’s finest pianists, Angela Brownridge, is to give a performance at Edington Priory Church on Saturday, June 16 at 7.30pm.

Ms Brownridge will be coming to Edington Priory Church on Saturday, June 16 to play a programme of pieces for solo piano by Chopin – perfect music for a summer’s evening.

A spokesman said: “The piano was the only instrument for which Chopin composed solo works, and they are always brilliant, passionate, celestial and emotional, sometimes all at once.

“To give a good account, they require a pianist of surpassing technical ability, emotional intelligence and experience, and one who has a deep understanding of Chopin the man and of his music.

“In Angela Brownridge we have just such a one, and we are honoured and excited to be welcoming her to the Priory Church for a concert of Chopin waltzes, polonaises, studies and more.”

This British pianist was a child prodigy, giving her first concert in 1951 at the age of seven; she continues to enjoy a busy career as a concerto soloist and recitalist, at home and abroad.

The programme represents a selection of music from her recently released Chopin CD, which has been very well received and critically acclaimed.

Her performances are described by phrases such as “true genius”, “passionate, rhapsodic and totally compelling”, and Edington Arts is looking forward to sharing an evening with her.

The full programme information for the evening is on www.edingtonarts.org; it includes waltzes, polonaises, and the great Fantasy in F minor – 12 minutes of sheer perfection.

Tickets are £20 (front nave), £15 (rear nave) and £10 (sides), with a 10 per cent discount for Edington Angels and free entry for those aged 18 and under. If you pay on the door on the night please add £2 per ticket.
