Visitors and stall holders alike took a step back in time at the weekend when Stockton Park played host to the vintage nostalgia festival.

Put on by enthusiasts for the enjoyment of enthusiasts, the festival took members of the public back to before the turn of the century up right up to the 1980's and gives visitors a unique experience with live music, vintage fashion, classic car displays automotive memorabilia and various period exhibits through the decades.

Period dress is always a big part of the festival and many turned up in costumes depicting the fashions of the forties, fifties and the swinging sixties.

Organisers Russ and Eve Topham said: "The event is all about having fun with good friends and family, making memories and celebrating them"

One vintage owner was doing just that.

Pete Beament, now in his 70's, owned a Riley RMB as a young driver.

Now decades on he has been reliving his teenage years by buying a similar model to take to shows.

Mr Beament said: "This is a lovely event where everyone can relive the past.”

Stall holder Hayley Shaw specialising in the vintage clothing.

She said. "Dresses from designs from a bygone era are very popular.

"It is because of the cut that they are very flattering for the female figure.

Making sure the women looked their best in the vintage clothing was a team of hairdressers who set up a salon to produce hairstyles of that era.

Hayley Kitchen arranged for professional hairdressers to team up with her to put on Pearls pin up Parlour.

She said: "Ladies just love to dress in their vintage clothing and love to have the hair styles to suit that period.

"They all looked really amazing."

Making the weekend complete, festival goers were able to rent out replica caravans of the fifties and sixties style.

Sarah- Jane Magee of Iconic rentals said: "Our caravans are very popular with people who want to get a real feel for living in the era while being at the vintage nostalgia festival."
