WEEKS of training paid off for a Warminster athlete who has been crowned England’s Strongest Man.

Lee Osment, 32, of Andrew’s Road, spent eight weeks preparing for the competition in which he came first in the under 90kg weight category.

Mr Osment said: “I have always wanted the title of England’s Strongest Man, it is what I have aways aspired to.

“I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet.”

Having now qualified to take part in the Britain’s Strongest Man competitions in August, Mr Osmond is straight back into training.

He said: “I am hopeful for the competition, I am one of the favourites to win.”

With his eight-week training programme for the British title underway, Mr Osment is aiming high.

He came 10th out of 30 competitors in the World’s Strongest Man competitions held in North Carolina, America in January.

He now needs to compete in the British and European competitions in the hope of qualifying for the Worlds.

Mr Osment said: “I was so pleased to qualify for the World competition last year.

“I set myself a goal to qualify in my first four years of training, but I managed to do it in my first year. I am aiming to qualify again this year.”
