IT has been a week to remember for a Trowbridge care centre after it received a dementia care award and it hosted another successful summer fete.
The Goodson Lodge Care Centre, Hilperton Road, won the Dementia Design Gold Award, attaining an assessment score of 98 per cent for the dementia friendly design.
The centre, which homes 65 people, earned the award for the way it caters to people with dementia by having very few closed doors, open plan living areas, a huge kitchen diner, lounges, a clear line of sight throughout the building, extra lighting and a clear access to the garden.
The Lodge’s customers relationships manager, Rebecca Jones, said “We are really really proud for receiving this international award. We have been open for just over a year so to receive this is fantastic news.
“The fete went really well. We raised £190 for the residents’ community fund.”
“It has been a very good week for us.”
The fun-fuelled day hosted events including a hook a duck, a face painting session, alongside the summer fete essentials, the raffle and a tombola.
