Bath Saracens 0, Corsham 2nds 41.

CORSHAM 2nds maintained top spot in Dorset and Wilts Division Two North with a comprehensive victory over fellow promoted outfit Bath Saracens.

After a close-run encounter the previous week at Colerne, Corsham's second string returned to form with a clinical team performance.

Bath Saracens never gave up but they continually found themselves on the back foot with the visitors' back row of Mick Mealing, Rich Morea and Nathan Hand proving a constant thorn.

Wing Craig Avent and fit-again No 8 Mealing led the way a hat-trick of tries apiece, with new recruit Dan Fazackerley winging in for his first touchdown.

Craig Kirk, back from injury, also impressed in his first start at full-back, while fly-half Phil Kernan kicked the balance of points with three conversions.

Corsham 3rds 41, North Dorset 4ths 0

CORSHAM'S newly formed third team continued their impressive start to the season with a 41-0 win over North Dorset 4ths at Lacock Road.

Colts player Robbie Vennard made his first senior appearance for the club and capped an encouraging performance with a second-half try.

In an impressive all-round team performance, the foundations were laid by the pack, with second row pair John Murzyn and Jack Hargett and flanker Matt Murphy prominent.

Fly-half Haydn Brockhurst led the way with a brace of tries, with the other touchdowns coming from wings Chris Ferris and Jamie Dickinson, and No 8 Chris Crook. Brockhurst and Ferris shared the points with the boot.

Lacock Road hosts plenty of rugby action this Saturday, with the first team at home to Avonmouth Old Boys in the second round of the national EDF Energy Senior Vase and a club side hosting a touring Chinnor XV.

And in the evening the club will be showing England's World Cup semi-final with France on the big screen (8pm).
