FHC Hire, based in Frome and Warminster, has been sold to Sydenhams, an independent timber and building supplies business.
The company, run by Dudley and Lesley Biddescombe, has traded for more than 20 years.
Sydenhams, established since 1874 has a network of 16 branches. In addition to supplying timer and building materials, the company also offers a range of bespoke services to clients.
With the acquisition of FHC Hire the firm can further strengthen its portfolio by diversifying into tool hire.
The Biddescombe's link with the business will continue, as their son Rick will manage the tool hire division for the new owners.
Frome solicitors FDC Law were legal advisors with chartered accountants Monahans' corporate finance team lead advisors on the sale.
