POLICE cordoned off a Chippenham car park on Friday morning after a man’s body was discovered by a member of the public.
The body was found slumped on the floor of a toilet at the car park in Bath Road at around 9am by a woman who had earlier dropped off her children at school.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
Emergency services were called the scene after the grim discovery and the man was pronounced dead by paramedics.
He has been named as Mark Goard, 40, a homeless man who lived on the streets and was battling drug addiction.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “This appears to a non-suspicious death involving an adult male who was located in the Bath Road car park in Chippenham by a member of the public shortly before 9am today.”
After the discovery, detectives cordoned off the car park while they mounted an investigation.
The car park reopened at 11am after the man’s body had been recovered.
