MORE THAN 300 people took to the streets of Devizes on Saturday morning to protest the views of their MP, Danny Kruger.

It came on the day that Mr Kruger sought to clarify his earlier comments, when he said that he doesn’t agree “that women have an absolute right to bodily autonomy” on abortion.

He then released a statement on Saturday, saying that "very much regrets" the "distress and anger" his comments on abortion has caused.

He also said he "does not wish to dictate what a woman should do with her own body".

The gathering was billed as a "peaceful expression of concern".

Some of the signs at the protest included those that read "Shame on you Kruger!", and "Danny - Listen to your mum - Mother knows best!"

Danny's mother, TV personality Prue Leith, wrote in The Spectator earlier this week that she did not agree with her son's comments

Other placards read "My body, my right, my choice", "repoductive rights are human ights", and "The Handmaid's Tale is a novel, not a manifesto".

Some were also holding signs saying Mr Kruger was "Not my MP".
