A MAN was found dead close to a Wiltshire railway station on Wednesday.

The British Transport Police confirmed the man's death in Trowbridge is not being treated as suspicious.

Trains running through the town were delayed for 90 minutes as emergency services raced to the scene.

A BTP spokesperson said: ‘Officers were called to the line in Trowbridge at 2.21pm following reports of a casualty close to the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

 Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the emergency service crews called to the serious incident off Innox Mill Close shortly after 12pm.

The discovery sparked a large response from Wiltshire Police, the British Transport Police and the South Western Ambulance Service.

Up to three local police vehicles and SWAST paramedics attended. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service also tasked a crew from Trowbridge to the scene as well as a fire officer.

Trains due to travel across the bridge were halted until around 1.30pm as emergency services recovered the body.

An investigation into the man's death is being led by the BTP. The Wiltshire & Swindon Coroner’s Office has been informed.
