A major route has been closed this lunchtime after a car burst into flames.
Police shut the A4 in both directions on Pewsham Way just after noon as smoke from the vehicle billowed over the Chippenham housing estate.
Cars were turned around at the entrance to the Westmead Open Space and told to turn back towards the town.
A fire crew arrived on the scene soon afterwards to bring the blaze under control.
The incident affected one vehicle and nobody appears to be hurt.
