Competitors are wanted for a new paddleboard race over a 100m course at this year’s Melksham Food & River Festival in September.

This fun event, with a competitive edge, is open to men and women, in separate categories, aged 18 plus and will take place on Saturday, September 2.

It is being organised by the Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team with sponsorship from Foxhangers and help from Paddleboard Batheaston. Paddleboards and paddles will be provided.

The race is limited to 32 competitors, who will be split into four mixed heats. The winners of each category from each heat will progress to the semi-finals.

The same criteria will establish the line up for the final which will consist of two male and two female competitors.

The Melksham Food and River Festival is organised by the festival committee with support from the  Wilts & Berks Canal Trust and the Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club.

This year is the 8th year of the Food and River Festival, a two-day late summer event being held on Saturday and Sunday, September 2 and 3.

The festival seeks to provide a platform for local food and drink producers, community groups, local entrepreneurs and start-up businesses.
