A FORMER Kingdown School pupil has opened a vintage clothing store for men that is helping to convert shoppers to sustainable fashionwear.

Harry Gilmour, 26, launched his retail shop, Gilmours Garmz, in Warminster 18 months ago and is taking the town by storm.

Already, the shop, which sells vintage fashion clothing for men, is attracting customers from Wiltshire and beyond.

Harry, who comes from Warminster, said: “We opened the shop 18 months ago to sell branded vintage clothing.

“I’ve always enjoyed going to charity shops and car boot sales and there was nothing like this available locally.

“If I wanted to buy men’s clothing, I would have to go to Bath or Bristol.

“Having a shop in Warminster means I don’t have to pay the higher rents and rates in those two towns and can offer customers more affordable prices.”

Mr Gilmour travels all over the country to buy stock from stores and large warehouses for his shop in Chinns Court.

“Men tend to spend more on clothing but keep it for longer,” he said. “There’s now so much clothing in the world, there’s no need to produce more.”

Mr Gilmour has given talks at local schools about the need for sustainable clothing and has taken part in fashion shows for charity.
