WHY not Be A Star this weekend as it’s your last opportunity to donate toys and gifts to The Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal which closes on Sunday (December 3).

The Christmas Appeal focuses on providing toys and gifts for children who otherwise might not receive anything on Christmas Day.

You can donate brand new, unwrapped gifts and toys for children aged 0-18 years up until Sunday at the following locations:

  • Tesco Extra, County Way, Trowbridge, during normal shop hours
  • The Shires Management Office, Trowbridge, Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sundays 10.30am-4pm
  • The Works in The Shires, during normal shop hours
  • Morrisons Warminster, during normal shop hours
  • Morrisons Westbury, during normal shop hours

This weekend there are also two opportunities to take gifts directly to The Salvation Army Hall in Castle Street, Trowbridge:

  • Friday, December 1 between 4.30pm and 6.30pm
  • Saturday, December 2 between 10am and 2pm.

Salvation Army church leader Michala Lancefield said: “We are so thankful for those who have contacted us to enquire about this year’s appeal.

“We are so grateful to both individuals and groups who donate to the appeal, because without you it really wouldn’t be possible to help those most in need in our communities.

“I also want to thank B&M who have assisted us in providing wrapping paper for each family so that parents and carers can see the gifts their child is receiving and then wrap the gifts themselves.  This is appreciated by the families we support, as they feel they really are part of their child’s Christmas.

“I also want to publicly thank our wonderful volunteers who will be working hard over the next week or so, to sort and pack the donations ready for delivery to families referred to us by social services. The appeal really is a community effort.”

Michala added: “If you’re unable to donate a gift, but would still like to support the appeal you can do so with a financial donation via our Just Giving page.”
