An innovative new convenience store has opened on a Wiltshire High Street sparking excitement amongst residents.

The “concept” Londis store was opened by owner Sugeshan Jegasothy on Box High Street, on Wednesday, January 10, at the former McColl’s premises which has sat empty for some time.

The premises has been fitted out with a new design and layout which will soon be rolled out across other Londis venues in the UK.

It will boast Costa Coffee and Slushie machines as well as a range of groceries, bakery items and alcohol.

Mr Jegasothy said: “It looks amazing because it’s a new concept store that’s all brand new, you won’t see many places like this.

“We’re very excited and so happy that everything has come together because a month ago we moved in and the roof was leaking, but we’ve refitted it.

“The property was falling apart but we’ve fixed it all and it’s looking nice.”

The opening of the store has been met with excitement from villagers.

Parish Councillor Tim Walton said: “It’s at the heart of the village and it shows that things are waking up again in the village.

“It’s helpful for people and good for the environment because now people can walk to a shop instead of driving.”
