A completion date has been revealed for the first houses in an expansive new 450-home development.

Construction on Crest Nicholson’s Rowden Gate development, at Patterdown in Chippenham, began last year and has been progressing at a rapid pace.

The first homes in phase one of the project are now expected to be completed by the Spring of 2024, with seven properties sold since the developers opened a new sales office in November last year.

Phase one will total 152 homes before a further 64 new properties are built during phase two of the scheme.

Eventually Crest Nicholson will deliver a total of 453 “high quality” homes at the 126-hectare garden village development.

The entire estate is anticipated to be completed by 2029.

The current phase of construction consists of a collection of three, four and five-bedroom homes which are now on the market at prices starting from £330,000.

Footpaths and cycle paths are also being implemented in and around the site while a new riverside park will stretch from Rowden Gate to the town centre.

Once completed, the masterplan is also designed to include a village centre, food retailer, primary school and three play areas.
